How We Review the Best Alberta Online Casino

When we review a website for Alberta online casino players, there are specific considerations we make to ensure only the best casinos appear on our list. We cover every aspect of the online casino experience, including security, player safety, payment methods, available games, customer support, welcome bonus offers, responsible gambling, and more.

When you play Alberta casino games at a site we pick, you can do so in absolute confidence.

History of Online Gambling in Alberta

In many ways, Alberta is Canada's gambling home. The province has the oldest land-based casinos in the country and a rich gambling history stretching back to the 1920s. During this time, organized gambling was first founded in Alberta in the form of horse racing and church bingos.

Through the middle of the 20th century, law expansions brought slot machines and lotteries to Alberta. It was the 1980s that brought a shift for Alberta into a modern era of gambling. Many charitable land-based casinos opened during the decade, such as Casino ABS in Edmonton and Cash Casino in Calgary.

The number of casinos in the province had grown to eleven by 1995, focusing more on luxury locations. This luxury resort/getaway model has remained in Alberta until this day, where there are now 27 brick-and-mortar locations.

While there are land-based Alberta casinos, the province has also taken a proactive approach to online gambling. But, are casinos open in Alberta? Aside from land-based casinos, you can safely play at offshore online casinos in Alberta. However, there is currently only one iGaming site that is licensed and regulated locally, where you can play casino games, PlayAlberta.ca.

Here you can play the lottery, bet on sports, and play Alberta slots and other casino games online. While PlayAlberta is the only online casino regulated by the local Alberta authorities, residents in the province can visit any other online casino that supports players from Canada. In fact, each site we recommend on this page is perfect for Alberta online casino players.

Tips on How to Start Gambling Legally in Alberta

Registering with a new online casino should be as easy and pain-free as possible. At the same time, online casino operators must perform Know Your Customer (KYC) checks to maintain security and customer safety. Balancing the need for efficiency with proper checks is something only the top casino sites get right. When we recommend Alberta gambling online sites, we pick the casinos that look after customers while also providing a swift registration process. Another essential consideration is casino availability. We select sites that accept Canadian players, offers local payment methods and allows to manage deposits and withdrawals in Canadian Dollars, making it easy for Alberta online casino players to join and play. Below are some straightforward steps to get you started on one of our recommended gambling sites:

• Step 1Pick one of the top Alberta casinos on this page as expertly selected by our review team.
• Step 2Navigate to the "Sign Up" or "Join" button to begin the registration process.
• Step 3Enter information the site asks for, including name, DOB, address, phone number, email, etc.
• Step 4You must now verify your ID and address (some sites do this before your first deposit). Follow the steps on the site to upload your proof of identity (photo ID) and proof of address (utility bill).
• Step 5If everything is in order, your account is now verified. You can then deposit by heading to the cashier section. Select your preferred payment method, the amount you want to deposit and finalise the transaction.
• Step 6You can now begin wagering on your favourite casino games.

Moreover, as a legal requirement to help protect against fraud and money laundering, you will need to verify your casino account with specific documentation, such as a photographic ID and proof of address, before you can withdraw any winnings. Get these documents approved as soon as possible to avoid delayed payouts.

Alberta Mobile Gambling and Apps

One of the best ways to experience the top Alberta casinos we recommend is on your mobile device. Modern online casinos boast websites that transition seamlessly from desktops/laptops to mobile casinos on smartphones and tablets. By using HTML5 technology, online slots and casino games are responsive and optimized to your mobile browser. However, some casino operators provide dedicated mobile applications to customers.

There are several benefits when accessing an Alberta online casino through an official casino app. Firstly, you get notifications covering available games, account information, bonuses and more. On top of that, you can also enjoy a bespoke experience built from the ground up for mobile devices. That means better connectivity and improved usability.

Best Payment Methods Alberta Online Casinos

One crucial consideration when selecting a Canadian online casino is payment methods. Thankfully, our recommended Alberta casinos offer flexibility in terms of banking options. Our team selects casino sites that support deposits and withdrawals in Canadian Dollars, making it easy to manage your funds.

When we review an Alberta casino online, we want to see as many payment options as possible. Customers have diverse needs, and access to a broad selection of methods is essential. When you visit one of our recommended casino sites, you can expect to see the following banking methods:

Debit / Credit Cards:

Using a debit/credit card to deposit and cash out makes sense because most online casinos accept card transactions. While withdrawal times can take up to 5 days, debit/credit cards remain a convenient choice.

E-wallets:

The significant advantage of using e-wallets, like PayPal and Neteller, is keeping your bank details anonymous and faster withdrawal times. It is worth checking the T&Cs of casino bonuses because sometimes they exclude e-wallets payments from participating.

Prepaid Cards:

Prepaid options like work by topping up your card at a physical location before redeeming them at the online casino. Ultimately, this makes prepaid options ideal for bankroll management but less convenient than other options.

Apple / Google Pay:

Apple Pay and Google Pay are incredibly convenient options for mobile players. You can fund your account within seconds without the need to locate your bank card and input the card number.

Cryptocurrencies:

There is no doubt that cryptocurrencies will play a massive role in finance as a whole in the coming years. While widespread availability at online casinos is not happening yet, the benefits are clear, including anonymous and secure payments.

Alberta Online Casino Games Selection

When you visit one of the Alberta casinos we recommend on this page, the number of games will help to decide if you stick around. While it is nice to see a casino with hundreds or thousands of games, it is more critical to our review team to find a well-curated game lobby with plenty of variation. The top casino software providers excel at offering games that are high on excitement and lucrative prizes. When browsing our Alberta casino online sites, you can enjoy the following games:

Table Games:

Virtual table games allow you to test your gambling skills against a computer while playing classics like roulette, blackjack, poker, craps, baccarat, and more. At the top Alberta casinos, you can play multiple variants of each game. For example, European, American, or French roulette and multi-hand, speed, or traditional blackjack.

Online Slots:

Online slots provide the core of the game catalogue at most online casinos. Alberta slots players can pick up games of all types, including traditional virtual fruit machines, licensed titles, modern 3D video slots, and games based on your favourite films and TV shows. Providers like Microgaming, NetEnt, IGT, and others have iconic slots waiting for you at top casino sites.

Progressive Jackpots:

A progressive jackpot game takes the standard online slot and attaches a life-changing jackpot that can run into millions of dollars. These titles have community prizes that accumulate across all online casinos where these games are available. For example, Microgaming's popular Mega Moolah, which regularly pays out seven-figure jackpots.

Live Casino Games:

Bring a taste of a land-based casino into your home with live dealer games, the most authentic online gambling experience possible. Major developers, like Evolution Gaming and Pragmatic Play, provide live poker, blackjack, roulette and other games that use real professional dealers streaming to your device in high-quality imagery and audio.

Bingo:

While not available at all online casinos, bingo is a popular online gambling choice. Many online bingo sites also provide casino games like slots and progressive jackpot slots.
